Something IS Better Than Nothing
The phrase "something is better than nothing" means that even a small, partial, or imperfect result is preferable to complete inaction or having nothing at all. It encourages embracing progress over perfectionism and accepting hopeful outcomes when ideal ones aren't available.
Steps Forward
After being suspended in hibernation for a prolonged period of time, I took the first steps to reestablishing the Mission and Vocation of the Evangelical Catholic Church by restoring its legal charter with the State of Illinois in 2025. That same Charter was renewed with the State in June of 2026.

Building a New Website
With the help, mentoring and suggestions of Kris Luck of Quest Network Services, we recreated a 21st Century website at www.evcathchurch.org that is mostly bi-lingual and easy to navigate. Once Bill Morton has recovered from a serious leg injury, we will continue the work of optimizing the site.
Meanwhile, we invite all to visit our website.
Vocations
I am pleased to report that as of July 7th, 2026, we have one confirmed candidate for the priesthood – John Marc Ormechea from East Lansing MI. We are assisting another man from New Castle PA who is currently completing the application process to join John – Marc.
I have also entered into dialogue with three individuals regarding Clerical Incardination and I hope these dialogues will result in official application status.
In a related matter the Evangelical Catholic Church has been approached to consider reconnecting with another jurisdiction that was once part of the ECC. This matter will be moving to the front burners shortly for dialogue and consideration.
Health status is a measure of physical, mental, and social well-being. Assessed through clinical evaluations, it is typically rated on a scale of Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, or Poor. This status acts as a strong predictor of critical outcomes.
As part of my personal commitment to full and open disclosure, I wish to share with you my current cardio and kidney status.
For the past five years I have been closely monitored by my cardio and nephrology doctors for my chronic cardio heart failure and related injury to my kidneys.
Earlier this year a CTO located was discovered in the lower back region of my heart. In the coming months a decision on treatment of this issue will be made.
I am currently rated as falling in between the status of good and fair. As long as I do not over extend myself, I can maintain this status for the near future.
Having teetered on the edge of extinction, I believe that the future of the Evangelical Catholic Church is in God's hands and I find this a deeply comforting perspective.
The future of the ECC must recognize that the common model of church is shifting away from massive, corporate "franchise" models toward smaller, highly relational communities and digital discipleship. To remain relevant to future generations, jurisdictions are focusing on theological depth, social justice, and authentic mentorship rather than just event attendance.
In the Evangelical Catholic Church, we believe that a steward of God is a person entrusted to lovingly manage and care for God’s creation, recognizing that God is the ultimate owner. This means actively serving others and responsibly overseeing everything you have been given, including your time, talents, financial resources, and the earth itself.
This is our vocational opportunity to embrace Jesus’ Great Commission.
Jesus commissioning the disciples, commonly known as the Great Commission, is the resurrected Christ’s final instruction to his followers to spread the gospel to all nations. Found across the New Testament, it commands believers to go, baptize in the name of the Trinity, and teach fidelity to his teachings.
Nearly thirty years ago, Archbishop Mark Shirilau and Bishop Robert Martin placed the seeds for the Evangelical Catholic Church in my hands and I remain committed to tending these seeds as they germinate.
And as canonical descendants of Bishop Carlos Duarte Costa, the ECC calls upon him to intercede upon our behalf.
Let us Pray
Lord, everything we have is a gift from You. We offer these gifts and our whole lives back to Your service. May they bring glory to Your name.
Amen.

Como parte de mi compromiso personal de ofrecer información completa y transparente, deseo compartir con ustedes mi estado actual en cuanto a salud cardiovascular y renal.
Durante los últimos cinco años, he estado bajo un estrecho seguimiento por parte de especialistas en cardiología y nefrología debido a mi insuficiencia cardíaca crónica y a las complicaciones renales asociadas.
A principios de este año, se detectó una oclusión total crónica (CTO) en la región posterior inferior de mi corazón. En los próximos meses se tomará una decisión sobre el tratamiento de esta afección.

Tras haber estado al borde de la extinción, creo que el futuro de la Iglesia Evangélica Católica está en manos de Dios, y considero que esta perspectiva es profundamente reconfortante.
El futuro de la Iglesia Evangélica Católica debe reconocer que el modelo eclesial predominante está evolucionando: se aleja de los modelos masivos y corporativos tipo «franquicia» para orientarse hacia comunidades más pequeñas y basadas en relaciones estrechas, así como hacia el discipulado digital. Para mantener su relevancia ante las futuras generaciones, las jurisdicciones están centrando sus esfuerzos en la profundidad teológica, la justicia social y el acompañamiento auténtico, más que en la mera asistencia a eventos.
En la Iglesia Evangélica Católica, creemos que un administrador de Dios es aquella persona a quien se le ha confiado la tarea de gestionar y cuidar con amor la creación divina, reconociendo que Dios es su verdadero dueño. Esto implica servir activamente a los demás y administrar con responsabilidad todo lo que se ha recibido, incluidos el tiempo, los talentos, los recursos económicos y la propia tierra.
Esta es nuestra oportunidad vocacional de abrazar la Gran Comisión de Jesús.
El mandato de Jesús a los discípulos —conocido comúnmente como la Gran Comisión— constituye la instrucción final de Cristo resucitado a sus seguidores para que difundan el Evangelio a todas las naciones.
