John-Marc Joseph Ormechea

John-Marc Ormechea, a candidate for Priesthood, is a seminarian, theologian, and ministerial leader whose work is rooted in liberation theology, public ministry, and the renewal of Catholic faith beyond systems of exclusion. John-Marc recently graduated from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities as the first recipient of the Master of Arts in Ministry and continues working on a thesis to complete a Master of Arts in Theology and Religion. John-Marc’s academic work focuses on Carlos Duarte Costa as a proto-liberation theologian, liberationist Christology and ecclesiology, and the church’s call to stand with the poor, marginalized, and oppressed. John-Marc brings together Catholic tradition, independent Catholic identity, liberation theology, and a deep commitment to social justice as central parts of their vocation.

John-Marc lives in Lansing Michigan with spouse and two children, and currently works in the Office of Academic Governance at Michigan State University. Outside of school, work, and family life, they are an avid chess and Magic: The Gathering player, and a fan of Godzilla movies both old and new.

The Evangelical Catholic Church is pleased to have John-Marc as a candidate for Holy Order.

……..and God-willing, more to come.
