Deaconate Ordination

An Evangelical Catholic deacon is one who is ordained to diakonia, that is, a service to God’s People in communion with the bishop. The principal function of the deacon is to collaborate with the bishop in the exercise of a ministry which is not of their own wisdom but of the Word of God, calling all to conversion and holiness.

On September 19th, 2026, The Most Reverend James Alan Wilkowski will ordain two candidates to the Order of Deacon on behalf of the Evangelical Catholic Church, John-Marc Ormechea of East Lansing MI and Todd Ambrosia of New Castle PA. The Liturgy of Ordination will be hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lansing located at 5509 S. Pennsylvania Avenue at 2:00 PM.

John-Marc and Todd will assist the bishop in ministries of the Word, Liturgy and Charity. This includes proclaiming the Gospel, leading intercessions, preaching, preparing the altar, celebrating baptisms, leading the faithful in prayer, distributing holy communion, witnessing marriages and conducting wake and funeral services. Deacons also identify the needs of poor and underserved, and shepherd the Church's resources to meet those needs.

The Evangelical Catholic Church thanks God for His gift of these two men and will continue to pray for more candidates in the future.
